HISTORY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SABAH

At first origin of the name Sabah is considerably less clear, so many theories have arisen. One of them is when Sabah was ruled by the Sultan of Brunei, as it is referred to as Saba banana presence. In addition, the word Sabah also be due to the location of Sabah in relation to Brunei, it leads a Malay word meaning upstream in Brunei. The theory also says that Sabah was referred to as the 1365 text Seludung in Java. Humans believed to have migrated into the region of about 20,000 to 30,000 years ago.




DECLARATION OF THE FEDERATION OF MALAYSIA


After Sabah occupied by some foreign power, finally on 16 September 1963 North Borneo was officially united with Malaya, Sarawak and Singapore to form the federation of Malaysia. Various challenges we have experienced in forming the Federation of Malaysia include Indonesia has a policy of hostility on the British until the outbreak of the war when there is Malaysia. After independence Sabah held its first state election in 1976. Declaration of Malaysia was held in Jesselton, North Borneo in September 16, 1963. Sabah State also submitted Labuan Island and 6 other surrounding islands to the Malaysian government. Kota Kinabalu was declared a city. It is the 6th city in Malaysia and the first city in the state. Therefore, the establishment of the Malaysian Federation event is very meaningful to the people of Sabah. It is celebrated on every year.
